The Holiday for Hallmark

Yay for L-O-V-E

I must admit I am pretty proud of myself for being somewhat creative for my Valentine. However, I am not so proud of myself for spilling the beans a week early. This is what happens when you go to dinner with your Cupid, have an amazing entree, a lot of interesting conversations and a few drinks. I am just terrible at waiting. I have had the idea for a few months, been working on it for a few weeks, told anyone and everyone that probably didn't care to hear about it. Once it was completed I just wanted to give it to him. After all he is my best friend and the first person I share everything with. At least I didn’t give it ALL away, right?

I did a little countdown of surprises for him starting on the 1st and leading up to the 14th day of February. Each day was strategically planned. I meticulously placed each day in a different envelope and each gift with a specialized message pertaining to what the daily surprise would be.

Day
1.   A mystery card that had a little sexy note on it (compliments of cosmo).
2.   I got him some personalized m&m’s that were green, blue, yellow and said J+K=4 Ever, Jase Rocks (everyone in his family calls him Jase), 5/17/2010 (which is the day we met) and good ole cheesy My heart Skips 4U. I also bought the traditional m&m candy machine to put them in, so he could place on his desk to enjoy.
3.   I decided that I must incorporate some sort of go green. It just wouldn't be me if I didn't. I arranged for an e-card to be sent his way. A little hoopsandyoyo, they are my all time favorite. http://www.hallmark.com/online/hoopsandyoyo/
4.   Was another flirty card from Cosmo. I have been saving these cards forever. They were well worth the wait.
5.   Cosmo card – These were all adult friendly cards.
6.   I sat down, grabbed some stationary from my youth, got a fun pen and poured out my heart writing none other than a good old fashioned love letter. I did not hold back or contemplate what I wanted to say. If I have thought it then I wrote it.
7.   Jason loves him some coffee, so I got him a gift card to Starbucks.
8.   I did some research, found a lot of fun filled facts about Valentines day, cards, chocolates, cupid and so forth. I printed them out on some pretty pink paper in some awesome purple print. (purples almost my favorite color)
9.   I got three packages of these little cards. There were a total of 36 and I wrote on the outside of every envelope I love the way you… and on the inside I wrote a personalized message on each card for him to have to open whenever he wanted to. I printed out a couple of cute pics of me with him and his nieces, folded it up and placed it on the inside of the clear glass bowl that was holding all the cards for him.
10.  Was my Valentine’s Day card to him, asking him to stay with me on Sunday the 13th night, so we   could go to breakfast before work and school on the 14th. Since this is something we have not done before.
11.  Was the last and 4th card of the Cosmo set.
12.  I typed up the itinerary for him with all the information he would need for our double date outing I had planned. We are going to Bishop’s Art District for dinner with The Whitlow's (they just got MARRIED) and then we are all going to see a play at Theater Too.

13.  I was ever so clever and got him some scratch off tickets stating that I am glad I took a gamble with him. He won 90.00 on the 20.00 worth of scratch off’s I purchased!!!
14.  This is the one and only gift I didn’t really let him open and it was the old fashioned sweet heart candies, with a little card and then going to breakfast. It just wouldn't be Valentines without those candies. Reality was that we weren't really hungry and opted for coffee from The Cave (aka my apt) and some extra rest time.

I think he was really surprised and okay that I asked him to open the 13 envelopes on January the 26th after dinner that night. It is a funny story to share with others. I also let him know all about his birthday surprise on this night as well. HA!!  We still had fun pretending like everyday was the first day of the envelopes opening. The double date was awesome. We really enjoyed hanging out with the Newlyweds. The Theater had a pleasant surprise of roses, chocolates and champagne during intermission. I just don't think it could have been any better. He did an awesome job and got me a perfume set, a heart shaped cupcake/muffin maker, the most adorable cookie jar ever (even if it did come from TARGET-I have a small strike against this place), a beautiful ring/earring set from James Avery, some lottery tickets(I only won 2.00) and three awesome cards.

We are going to have dinner with his family tonight, he will be in charge of next year, so I can't bust the gut and there will be a surprise. This is a wrap for Valentines 2011.
